Payal Kapoor
The “Rang Birangi” collection by Payal Kapoor started with models striding in flaunting gorgeous saris in white-red and blue-gold. Heavily sequined and embroidered garments shone on the ramp, but with a definite lack of creativity.
The colour palette went crazy after a few minutes into the show as the festivity really started to show. Beiges, greens, oranges, reds, pinks, purples and yellows were dyed on fabrics like net, satin, chiffon and silk. Emphasis was given on heavy borders with metallic finish lace and sequined work. Anarkali dresses, kurta- patialas, saris were showcased in this collection making extensive use of gota and ari work.
Traditional motifs seemed to be a hot favourite with heavy embellishments. Free flowing silhouettes, sparkling crystals, rich colours, hints of culture with glamour. The ramp sure dazzled, especially when the showstopper Sheetal Mallar walked in a gorgeous orange and pink paisley work lehenga with a gold blouse! A treat for the cameras!
